Toyota Sells 1,654 Prius Plug-In Hybrids in April

Gas prices continue to be a problem around the country. They seem to only be going up with no decreasing in sight. Toyota knows this which is why they are offering eco-conscious drivers with the expanded Prius Family of Cars. Consisting of the original Toyota Prius, the subcompact Prius c, the larger Prius v, and ultra-efficient Prius Plug-In, the lineup has been impressing critics and drivers in the greater Nampa area and beyond alike with each new addition.

Toyota must be doing something right as the popularity of this line-up is through the roof. In April of 2012, Toyota sold a combined 25,168 vehicles from the Prius Family of Cars. That's a drastic 126.9-percent increase over the same time last year. What's even more impressive is that of those 25,168 hybrids sold, 1,654 were the all-new Prius Plug-In. Doesn't sound like something to boast about? Allow Tom Scott Toyota to explain.

Aside from the fact that the Toyota Prius Plug-In is the newest member to the Prius Family of Cars, the fact that it sold 1,654 units last month is quite remarkable because it beats out the both the Chevrolet Volt and Nissan LEAF. Respectively, they sold 1,462 and 370 units last month. What's more, they've been on the market for years longer than the Prius has.

So what does the Toyota Prius Plug-In owe its success to? Some skeptics might say it's beginners luck. We, however, are more inclined to say that its impressive sales bout is thanks to the incredible reputation that Toyota Hybrids have built up over the years. The Prius is, after all, the single most popular and recognizable hybrid in the world.
