Very similar to the Toyota Prius, the FT-Bh Concept (Future Toyota B-segment Hybrid,) is a small hatchback with a great MPG. A new powertrain in the vehicle boasts fuel-economy of around 112 miles per gallon.
FT-Bh's engine is a 1.0-liter Atkinson-cycle with 2-cylinders and a lithium-ion battery that is half the size of Prius's Hybrid Synergy system - making it about 200 pounds lighter than Prius.
This vehicle "embodies a holistic, total system approach to engineering and design. Toyota cites five key tenets: powertrain efficiency, mass reduction, thermal-energy management, electrical efficiency, and optimized aerodynamics," according to Toyota.1
This concept is more a practice in design, but a lighter, more fuel efficient engine is something the company will implement on future vehicles, undoubtedly attracting many to Tom Scott Toyota located at
